This past weekend, my dad was honored as Mattoon Chamber of Commerce's 2010 Citizen of the Year Award. I a very proud of him and his accomplishments. Click here to see an article about his award and what he has accomplished.
While I was in the US over Christmas this past year, I was shocked by the number of people who were upset by Tiger Wood's behavior. Most often, I heard they were disappointed in Tiger because he was a tarnished role model. I found this a bit strange. Tiger is an excellent golfer, period. He's not a financial whiz, nor, I expect a great chef, he's just the best golfer of his era.
As I collect role models for certain aspects of my life, I'd like to present and innovate like Steve Jobs, invest like Warren Buffet, write like Michael Ondaatje, opine like Thomas Friedman and build businesses and communities like my dad. To me, those are role models I can count on.
Congratulations dad, I'm very proud of you!
